Thessaly in Central Greece has always been famous for its enormous flat plain, a remarkable feature in a mountainous country. Wine is grown in the Thessalian lowlands (Anchialos on the Pagasetic Gulf to the south east has appellation status and Tirnavos at the north fringe of the plain is a traditional wine area) but the most interesting wines today come from the Thessalian side of Mount Olympus itself, at Rapsani and neighbouring Krania. Our producer from this area is Katsaros.

This classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from fully mature vines has excellent length and power. It can be drunk now but will undoubtedly benefit from ageing.
