TSELEPOS (Peloponnese, Greece)

The Burgundian trained Yiannis Tselepos established his estate on the foothills of Mount Parnon near the site of ancient Tegea. The winery has spectacular views of the Tripoli plateau to the north and the high mountains behind it. The estate altitude is nearly 700 metres and this produces cool nights even in the middle of summer. The terrain consists of clay over schists. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer are grown on the estate. Tselepos also vinifies the Moschophilero grown within the Mantinia appellation which lies at roughly the same altitude on the opposite side of the Tripoli plateau and does it, in our view, better than anyone else.
