The Nico Lazaridi estate is near the eastern edge of the Drama plain in eastern Macedonia. The soils are well-drained alluvials with an abundance of conglomerates and underlayers of loose stones. Nico Lazaridi has been in the forefront of the investment and modernisation which is transforming wine production in Greece, and given the Bordeaux training of the winemaker, Bakis Tsalkos, it is no surprise that the estate has made a success of Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The refinement of Tsalkos’s Trebbiano is also remarkable.
Another stunning wine is the naturally sweet dessert wine Moushk, vinified according to the traditional methods from the island of Lemnos.
